Have you got 6 hours a month spare to help Cheshire Fire and Rescue provide practical help following minor domestic fires? Following emergencies where the fire service has been called but have declared the premises still habitable, there is a need to make homes habitable so that families can stay in the property.
This is a very flexible role and volunteers can be contacted 24/7 to help when the need arises. Volunteers work in teams of two on a 24/7 rota system. A specially equipped vehicle based in Winsford attends the minor incidents throughout Cheshire West. Volunteers listen, support and advise individuals and families. The role will involve cleaning the affected area of the premises, removing excess water and ensuring that the occupants can remain in the affected premises safely.
Volunteers must be reliable, hard working and a good communicator and must be literate. A willingness to get stuck in, mop up, clean up, offer advice and help the victims of minor domestic fires. Volunteers will be working within a team in this role and teamwork is an important element.
Volunteers need to be 18+ and be available for 6 hours per month. A DBS check is required for this opportunity and references will be required. The application process takes approximately 12 weeks. There is role related training available for this volunteer position. Mileage payable.
