About the opportunity
Could you help to be a friend and support an adult with learning difficulties to access leisure or community activities. Art and Craft support will help people to access art activities, these can be done one to one or in small groups. Ideally you should be interested in helping someone, able to build a relationship with them and offer the appropriate support to them to enable them to take part in an activity.
HF Trust recruits volunteers who will be given support to make, develop and maintain friendships and relationships. Join a friendly team that supports people to take part in activities, do everyday things like go on a shopping trip, out for a coffee, to the cinema, days out or for a meal.
As well as having fun and enjoying this role it will give a volunteer experience in being part of a team, respecting confidentiality, risk asessment and developing your communication skills
Volunteers will need Art and Craft knowledge and skills, Able to show or teach craft techniques, Good communication skills, Able to work autonomously,
Friendly and a patient personality with the ability to work as part of a team.
Volunteers required for 2 to 3 hours and have an induction, information on learning disabilities, current legislation, confidentiality, health and safety, communication skills, first aid, safeguarding.
Application process takes approximately 6 weeks. DBS check and references are required.
