Suitable for under 18s

Since The Dove Service was founded 30 years ago, it has been providing one-to-one counselling for people coping with bereavement, grief and loss. This role will probably require volunteers to travel to other parts of Cheshire or Stoke. Bereavement Support Volunteers and non-counselling volunteers, who have the relevant skills and experience, help to support counsellors running sessions and co-facilitate bereavement sessions. This is a worthwhile and valuable role helping people with their loss and bereavement. This role is a non-counselling activity, but it can provide unqualified volunteers with an insight into counselling, the skills required and what the role of the counsellor is.

Relevant skills such as giving advice, signposting, listening and good communication skills would all be useful in this support role. Volunteers must have empathy and understanding in order to help in sessions with clients who have experienced loss and bereavement. Introduction to Counselling Certificate/experience or similar qualifications would be useful, but not essential as this is a non-counselling role.

For people of 25+ years old; 4 weeks application process; expenses are paid at 40p a mile; commit to 3 hours per week; support given by Volunteer Co-ordinator, manager and clinical support; free training is available.
Volunteers should be aware, at this current time, that volunteering opportunities will probably take place outside the Ellesmere Port area and access to transport is key.

A Criminal Record Check (DBS) will be required

Only registered members can apply for opportunities.
