Description

To provide valuable support and companionship to people aged 50+, who are lonely or isolated.

As a Volunteer Buddy you could be helping someone to gain the confidence to leave the house for the first time, or take part in an activity, join a group, or enjoy trips to the cinema, with the aim of making new friends and connecting with the community around them. This is a shorter-term role for volunteers, usually for around 3-6 months.

Our Volunteer Befrienders help create a supportive friendship with people who may not necessarily want to engage with groups or activities, but would like to spend time with another person, maybe just having a cup of tea and a chat or going out for a walk, etc.

Skills & qualities required:

A caring nature and a positive attitude to older people, good listening skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with others.

Only registered members can apply for opportunities.
