About the opportunity
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service have a Business Safety department that promotes the preventative fire safety message along with strict, structured technical advice in line with legislation which makes all business premises a safe place to work and an informed workforce that have the knowledge and skills to deal with situations that arise.
Volunteers will be required to attend fairs and promotional events, to hand out leaflets, record basic data, distribute promotional material as requested and occasionally visit business premises.
Volunteers should note that at no time are they required or expected to give out verbal technical advice, but would in these circumstances be able to direct the business to the right department or employee of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Volunteers need good communication skills. Experience of health and safety would be very useful in this role. Marketing or presentation skills would also be useful to deliver the presentations to businesses and at events. Volunteer need to be comfortable talking to people and businesses.
Volunteer must be over 18 years old. Mileage is paid. Volunteers commit to at least 4 hours per month and can be picked up if they haven't got transport. Training is available for this role. Application time can take up to 10 to 12 weeks.
Applicants should be 18+, will commit to training and will be able to give at least 4 hours a month in the volunteer role.  Mileage is paid to volunteers and volunteers without cars can be picked up.  Training is available.  Application can take up to 10 to 12 weeks.
Availability of this service is: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm, Summer/Winter
