British Wireless for the Blind Fund has been making a difference to people with sight loss since 1928. We supply specially adapted audio equipment on a free loan basis to visually impaired people across the UK who would not otherwise be able to afford it. Having access to radio and everything it offers is as important now as it was then.
Radio provides news, entertainment and information and, more importantly, companionship in what can often be a lonely life. It becomes a lifeline to the world.
British Wireless for the Blind Fund would not be able to continue to help people with sight loss if it wasn’t for the fantastic support of our army of volunteers.
As well as the amazing support it gives BWBF, there are many other reasons why people choose to volunteer.
It could be a route to employment, a chance to try something new or a way to give something back to the community.
It is also a way to:
- Gain new skills, knowledge and experience
- Develop your existing skills, knowledge and experience
- Meet new people and make new friends
- Enhance your CV
- Improve your employment prospects
- Help benefit people with sight loss
- Get to know the local community
We currently need support with our admin, research and promotion. Typing up spreadsheets, compiling research, compiling mailshots and more. You will need to be computer literate for some of the work.
