A volunteer role to suit anyone who has an interest in music, can play a musical instrument or just enjoys listening to music and would like to share a love of music with other people. You can introduce people to a wide range of music or concentrate on areas of your knowledge or interest. The activity forms part of a programme of therapeutic sessions to broaden experiences.
If you enjoy sharing your enthusiasm & knowledge of music or would like to introduce music into other people lives, this is the role for you. You can also develop your communication and interpersonal skills in this role.
The role would involve facilitating music appreciation sessions for service users in the unit and will be supported by the Activity coordinators and unit nursing staff. The sessions will take place at the week-end or evenings.  Volunteers need to have an interest, knowledge and/or skills in music appreciation and who would like to meet and helping people enjoy and appreciate music. An interest in Learning Disabilities and good interaction and interpersonal skills are needed.  You need to have an interest in music, play a musical instrument and want to share your love of music with others.
