Could you help to be a friend and support an adult with learning difficulties to access leisure or community activities? The Swimming support buddy will help someone access pool activities and have the opportunity to go for a swim with them. This role is subject to a DBS check.
Ideally you should enjoy having a swim, be interested in helping someone, able to build a relationship with them and offer the appropriate support to them, to enable them to take part in an activity.
HF Trust recruits volunteers who will be given support to make, develop and maintain friendships and relationships. Join a friendly team that supports people to take part in ordinary activities, do everyday things like go on a shopping trip, going for a swim, out for a coffee, to the cinema, go for a walk, have an outing or go for a meal.
As well as having fun and enjoying this role it will give a volunteer experience in being part of a team, respecting confidentiality, risk assessment and developing your communication skills.

  • Enjoy swimming and knowledge of safety in the pool would be useful.

  • Ability to work as part of a team

Ideally 2 to 3 hours. Induction training , covering information about learning disabilities, current legislation, confidentiality, health & safety, communication skills, first aid and Safeguarding. 18+ years.
